What is Samsara GharA place where childhood is restored.
In Nepal, poverty and lack of basic neccessities forces thousands of children to choose survival over school. Children as young as six are pressured to skip school to help their parents earn money or secure food for the day — caught in a cycle of poverty that no child should face.
Before Samsara Ghar
A childhood defined by what was missing.
Children as young as six pulled out of school to work and help families survive
Meals were never guaranteed — hunger made learning impossible
Medical care was out of reach and illnesses went untreated
Mental health was never a conversation — trauma had nowhere to go
Girls especially were seen as not worth investing in
No field trips, no performances, no experiences — just survival
Samsara Ghar aims to address these profound issues by providing a haven where these children can find refuge, stability, and hope. By ensuring their essential needs are met, Samsara Ghar aspires to give children the freedom to focus on their education, empowering them to reclaim their childhood and aspire towards a brighter future.
Founded by ARC for Nepal and operated on the ground by the Rajendra Anjana Foundation, Samsara Ghar is a long-term, evolving home, not a one-time project. As we grow, so does our capacity to help.
After Samsara Ghar
A childhood defined by what's now possible.
Every child enrolled in school, 100% of tuition covered
Three nutritious meals every day, prepared by on-site chefs
Regular doctor checkups and health monitoring built into daily life
Mental health support and therapy available to every resident
Girls and boys given equal access, equal support, equal futures
Field trips, cultural performances, temples, lake rides — childhood, fully lived
How we support each childFive pillars of care, every single day
Every child at Samsara Ghar receives support across all five of UNICEF's core needs.
-
Samsara Ghar’s main feature, shelter, will ensure that every child under its care has a safe and enriching environment. The land on which this shelter is built is generously provided by the founder of AFN and his family. WiFi access will be provided throughout the entire facility.
Children's Rooms
Warden Rooms will be in the same areas as children's rooms to ensure they are protected and have access to aid as needed 24/7. Each warden room will have a private shower to ensure that the showers in the dorms are to be used only by children.
Volunteer Rooms will be in separate areas with private entrances to ensure the safety of all who wish to help.
Common Hall, where kids will have large open spaces to socialize and participate in many extracurricular activities
Playground
-
Samsara Ghar will ensure that the children under its care attend Shree Sanskrit Janesewa Secondary School, a local institution with which ARC for Nepal has collaborated extensively. Samsara Ghar will support Shree Janesewa Sanskrit Secondary School by covering 100% of the tuition costs for our residents, allowing them to focus on their academic goals without hindrance. Beyond tuition, Samsara Ghar will supply necessary educational resources such as school supplies, uniforms, and any other expenses essential for their education.

Samsara Ghar will provide its youths and staff with three nutritious meals a day, which are crucial for the healthy growth and development of young children and teens. Samsara Ghar will also take this opportunity to teach the children basic culinary practices and recipes, equipping them with valuable life skills outside of their education.
Dining Hall where children and staff may eat together. Chefs will be on duty to ensure children are provided healthy and nutritious meals promoting growth.
-
Proper clothing for all seasons will be supplied, ensuring children can thrive without worrying about harsh weather conditions. This includes regular household clothing, school uniforms, bedding, and blankets, acquired through donations and bought through financial contributions. This support is crucial for their physical well-being and self-esteem.
-
Doctors will conduct regular physical checkups to monitor the children's health. Additionally, psychiatrists and therapists will provide mental health assessments, offering necessary support and interventions during the transition process and throughout their stay. Samsara Ghar shall follow all required guidelines set forth by health officials to ensure the health and well-being of the children in our care.
