Celebrating Nepali Culture and Community Across Generations
This past Christmas, ARC for Nepal proudly served as a primary sponsor of the North Jersey Nepali Community Christmas Celebration in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Families and community members from across the state gathered for an evening of Nepali food, music, dance and connection.
For ARC for Nepal, building a stronger future in Nepal also means strengthening the community that supports that work. Events like this help Nepali families living in the United States maintain meaningful connections to their heritage, introduce younger generations to Nepali traditions and build relationships rooted in a shared commitment to giving back.
Bringing Generations Together Through Culture
The celebration showcased the richness and talent of New Jersey’s Nepali community. Guests enjoyed cultural performances, music, traditional food and opportunities to reconnect with old friends while forming new relationships.
The event also welcomed leaders from the local and national Nepali community, including special guest Dr. Arjun Banjade, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association USA.
Volunteers Carrline Shrestha, Bhumika and Indira Pokhrel served as emcees, guiding guests through an energetic program featuring performances by members of the Nepali community, including Bhumika, Samaira, Swornim, Avik, Manvik, Nikki, Karina and Indira Pokhrel.
A special performance by Kabina Maharjan, Cultural Ambassador for Friends of Nepal–New Jersey, celebrated Nepal’s artistic heritage, while music from DJ Bhai Jung Bo Sherpa kept the evening lively.
Sharing the Flavors of Nepal
Guests enjoyed a selection of authentic Nepali dishes catered by Spice House. Traditional favorites such as sel roti brought a familiar and comforting part of Nepal to the celebration, reminding many attendees of holidays and meals shared with family and friends.
Food has a special way of connecting people across generations and distances. Sharing these dishes gave younger community members an opportunity to experience Nepali traditions while offering others a nostalgic reminder of home.

This celebration was made possible by the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the Nepali community. Sponsors contributed their time, resources and raffle prizes, adding even more excitement to the evening.
